Abstract

Professor Ghulam Yahya Anjum academic contribution in the field of Islamic theology is well known. He has written almost 36 books on different fields of Islamic Studies and Islamic history. Dr. Ghulam Yahya Anjum graduated from Ali Garh Muslim University India and now serving as a Professor at Jamia Hamdard New Delhi, India. This article is a detailed review of his book about translation and Commentaries of Holy Qur’ān produced in India. India is a country where large number of Hindu and Muslim are living. Arabic is a foreign language in India thus not understandable to many native people. Therefore, large number of Holy Qur’ān translations and Commentaries written in this area in different languages to make people understand of Qur’ān.  Prof. Ghulam Yahya Anjum did a valuable work by giving overview of these translation and Commentaries but at some point, his opinion about some authors and scholar cannot be justified and leaves an untrue impression about their scholarly work on reader. This article rectifies his opinion on some issues. Most part of this book is comprised over quotations from other scholars’ opinion and analysis. Prof. Ghulam Yahya Anjum own opinion are found very rare in this book. This book can be ranked intermediate level source on this topic.
