Empowering Pakistan: The Role of Democratic Development in Achieving Stability and Prosperity
Abstract
Pakistan requires democratic development to which pertain political reform, human rights, accountable democracy, economic reform, and peace. Since Pakistan has switched between the two political models of democracy and authoritarianism, a stable political system is needed. Democracy entails the free exercise of elective politics to retain or pass power sparing the system turbulence, thereby lending it legal force. It can also encourage everybody’s input, meaning that as many opinions are collected as possible. Democracy also helps human rights and social justice through disenfranchised citizens and provides minorities and vulnerable populations with rights. Its inclusivity assists the manner in which the country handles its ethnic and religious Diversity by attenuating social vices. Its economic implications are stability that result in reward and favourable atmosphere for investment. It fosters policies that are geared towards realization of sustainable development for the population. In addition, it promotes the values of democratic governance such as transparency and accountability that are so crucial in the fight against corruption and improved utilization of resources. Finally, the democratic development serves the purpose of a positive impact in the broad area of peace and security, since they allow expressing the dissatisfaction through legal activities, the population will have fewer incentives to join radical groups, and they will have more confidence in the authorities. Thus, the democratic destiny of the country is necessary for Pakistan’s future as the key for future stability, protection of the people’s rights, economic prosperity, accountability and prevalence of peace.
