A Critical and Analytical Study of Geology in the Light of the Quran and Modern Science

The Holy Quran contains numerous verses that pertain to geological phenomena such as mountains, earthquakes, tectonic activity, and the structure of the Earth. These descriptions often resonate with the core principles of modern geology. This study explores the alignment between Quranic narratives and contemporary scientific theories—particularly the theory of plate tectonics and the geological role of mountains. By examining classical and contemporary interpretations from Islamic scholars alongside modern scientific findings, this research highlights the Quran's profound insights into the Earth's physical characteristics. Notably, the Quran’s depiction of mountains as “stakes” and its references to the Earth's balance, motion, and layered composition demonstrate a remarkable correspondence with current geological understanding. This paper affirms that the Quran not only provides spiritual guidance but also contains knowledge that aligns with and sometimes anticipates modern scientific discoveries.
