Abstract

The scholarly history of Balochistan holds a distinguished place due to the significant contributions of its scholars in the field of Islamic jurisprudence. These scholars not only actively opposed shirk and bid'ah, but also played a vital role in the dissemination of Qur'anic teachings and the promotion of authentic Islamic practices. Their contributions to jurisprudential literature are particularly noteworthy. This paper presents a concise analytical overview of these scholarly efforts. Among the notable juristic works highlighted are: Fazā’il-e-Ramadan al-Mubarak by Maulana Sanaullah Bhagwi, Sharʿī Ḍābita Dīwānī by Maulana Shams al-Haq Afghani, Dīn kī Bātein by Maulvi Abdul Shakoor Torwi, Fazā’il-e-Namaz by Mufti Muhammad Abdul Rahim, Fazā’il wa Barakāt-e-Wuduʾ by Maulana Abdul Qudoos al-Hasani, Masā’il-e-Ramadan by Abu Mazhar Abdul Latif Dharam, Al-Hudood by Ghulam Kibriya Khan, and Muʿīn al-Farā’iḍ by Mufti Muhammad Hassan Ajmeri. These works address critical areas of Islamic belief, worship, transactions, criminal law, and inheritance, and are characterized by their clear and accessible style. Overall, the juristic services of Balochistan’s scholars stand as a milestone in religious education and represent an enduring contribution to the development of Islamic jurisprudence.
