Interpretation and Explanation of Surrogacy in Urdu Fatwas: A Research Study

The phenomenon of surrogacy has generated extensive debate among contemporary Muslim jurists, particularly within the Urdu-speaking scholarly tradition of South Asia. This study examines the major ethical, legal, and religious issues surrounding surrogacy in the light of Urdu fatwas issued by leading Islamic institutions These fatwas collectively view surrogacy The research highlights how Urdu fatwas interpret the Qur’anic concept of motherhood, emphasizing that the woman who gives birth is the legal mother in Shariah, and that the womb cannot be treated as an object of contract or rent. The paper concludes that Islamic law allows assisted reproductive technologies.
