Qadianism and the Finality of Prophethood (PBUM): Challenges of the Digital Age
Keywords:
Khatm-e-Nubuwwat, Qadianism, Online Propagation, Current ChallengesAbstract
The doctrine of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat is one of the unanimously agreed upon and fundamental beliefs of Islam, upon which the entire Muslim Ummah has consensus and unity. The belief that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the last and final messenger is not only firmly established through the clear and definitive text of the Holy Quran, but is also proven by mutawatir Hadith, the consensus of the Ummah and the continues Islamic tradition spanning over fourteen centuries. In the contemporary era, when movements Qadianism launched intellectual, ideological and media-based challenges against this belief, the scholars, researchers and thinkers of the Ummah rose to the occasion and rendered remarkable and invaluable academic services in the defense of the doctrine of finality of prophet hood. The present age is referred to as the digital era, in which social media, the internet and modern means of communication have made the transmission of ideas and thoughts extremely easy. While the facilities of the internet and modern media are being utilized to spread and promote the truth, false ideologies particularly Qadianism have also adopted these platforms as effective tools for their propagation. Through online literature and digital content, the Qadianis have presented Qadiani thought in a modern and academic manner, which has resulted in intellectual confusion, particularly among individuals and the younger generation. The propagation of Qadianism in the digital age constitutes an intellectual challenge. To respond to it effectively, this requires that, alongside traditional avenues, it must also be addressed on the digital front with strong and comprehensive scholarly force.
