Divine Warning (Wa'eed): A Study of Its Legal Status and Gradual Implementation
Keywords:
Divine Warning, Gradual Implementation, JurisprudenceAbstract
This research paper presents an analytical study of the concept of the Divine Warning (al-Wa'eed al-Ilāhī) within the framework of Islamic law. The study aims to explore the precise legal status (al-Ḥukm al-Shar'ī) of the warnings mentioned in al-Qur'ān and al-Ḥadīth, distinguishing between those pertaining to matters of creed ('Aqīdah) and those pertaining to practical jurisprudence (Fiqh). Furthermore, the research delves into the classical and contemporary discourse on the principle of gradual implementation (al-Tanfīdh al-Tadrījī). By examining how warnings were communicated and enforced during the Prophetic era, the paper seeks to reconcile the absolute nature of divine threats with the wisdom of gradual legal application in society. The findings aim to provide a balanced understanding of how divine warnings function as both a deterrent and a guideline for the phased development of an Islamic social order.
