The Egyptian writer and dean of Arabic literature, Tahaa Hussain, is an encyclopedic personality. He wrote books and exerted his efforts in modern Arabic literature, especially in social issues. He transferred the days and nights of his life on paper in a wonderful and graceful style. He earned the title of pioneer of the modern Arab autobiography, in which he collected what he had and what he had to do with all sincerity and frankness in the form of a novel, and from here his novelist character emerged. He has several novels that indicate social issues and their problems in Egyptian society in particular and in Arab society in general. He mentioned positive and negative ideas about society, and highlighted various social issues that highlight many aspects for the individual and society in their daily lives.
Among his most prominent novels: “The call of Curlew”, which he drew from the reality of Egyptian society, which indicates the various tendencies of Egyptian society, including oppression and injustice, treachery and violation, destitution and travel, revenge, the deprivation of women’s rights in society and their injustice, and images of poverty, misery and loss in the words of the girl Amna. (The heroine of the novel), who later changed her name to Souad.
