Abstract

This study explores the legacy of Khwaja Hasan Nizami (1878–1955) and his impact on Islamic and social consciousness in the Indian subcontinent. It traces his intellectual development and major contributions to Islamic literature, highlighting his diverse role as a writer, thinker, journalist, and reformer who addressed the religious, social, and moral issues of his era.

His works addressed social justice, freedom, spirituality, and Islamic values, serving as tools for social awareness and reform. His historical and travel writings, especially on the events of 1857, documented the Islamic and socio-political realities of the subcontinent.

The study finds that Khwaja Hasan Nizami’s writing and ideas formed a clear and connected influence that went beyond just literature to shape Islamic thinking and social awareness in the twentieth century. His legacy remains a significant resource for contemporary academic research, offering valuable insights when analyzed through modern critical and interdisciplinary frameworks.
