Educational Psychology, modern concepts of Teaching learning process and Iqbal’s thoughtsAbstract
The development in the field of Psychology, Medical and Neuroscience and their effective use in education has enormously changed the yardsticks of teaching, grooming, students-teachers relationship and curriculum development. New research suggesting that students’ age and gender play significant role in their learning has led to new methods and requirements. This led to broadening the scale of teaching. The empirical knowledge regarding students’ moral, social, psychological, mental, economical, and physical growth and the pursuit of their goals has led the way to enormous changes in pedagogy. The Holy-Quran had outlined the philosophy behind pedagogy and mental growth fourteen centuries ago. Modern era experts follow the same line of pedagogy. M. Iqbal was an intelligent, inquisitive, logical and philosophical student. His parents and teachers were remarkable and Iqbal was heavily influenced by them. He himself was not only an exemplary learner but also an expert educator and influencer. He was also involved in curriculum development and moral grooming of his students. His deep insights on Psychology, Neuroscience and Pedagogy, discussed in his prose and poetry, are deeply aligned with modern era scientific approach. A detailed study of these concepts and ideas creates many possibilities for its practical application in the ongoing epoch. These concepts can be very useful in devising the curriculum of seminaries and schools alike from lower level to higher level.this paper seeks to examine and highlight the pedagogical concept of Iqbal by analyzing his thoughts in critical and expository way.
