This research paper presents an analytical study of the comprehensive and balanced strategy adopted by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to address the pervasive and complex socio-economic issue of poverty. It clarifies that poverty is not merely an economic weakness but the root cause of social disintegration, crime, feelings of deprivation and instability, for which Islam has provided a holistic system. The Noble Prophet (PBUH) did not limit Himself to temporary relief for eradicating poverty; rather, he established an integrated framework that encompasses spiritual, moral, economic and social dimensions. The study offers a detailed review of prominent initiatives from the Prophetic era, including the Mu'akhat (brotherhood) of Medina for fostering social and economic harmony; promotion of labor and self-reliance; establishment of the Medina market with a transparent trade system; institutionalization of Zakat; prohibition of usury; agricultural reforms; prevention of hoarding; encouragement of benevolent loans establishment of the Bait al-Mal social welfare; the Waqf system; promotion of craftsmanship; wealth circulation; thriftiness; and spending in the way of Allah. The paper highlights that the Prophetic strategy for eliminating poverty extends beyond mere provision of material resources, deeply intertwining with the establishment of human dignity, self-respect and societal justice. This system formed a welfare-oriented society ensuring equitable distribution of wealth, provision of economic opportunities and protection of vulnerable classes. Furthermore, the research demonstrates that the Prophetic approach remains highly effective and applicable to contemporary economic and social challenges, provided it is implemented in its original spirit.
