Malik bin Nabi: His idea, steps and views on the Civilizational Revival

Abstract

Civilization is a vast field that can be studied from various angles. This humble work aimed to study the viewpoints of the prominent modern Islamic thinker and their approaches towards western civilization. That known as Algerian scholar Malik bin Nabi, one of the pioneers of the Islamic intellectual renaissance in the twentieth century par excellence, which made him a stranger among his people and his countrymen, not because he called for revising existing political approaches, as he says: If a society wants to make its history, it is not enough to have needs, rather it should have guiding principles , so that he can take the path of liberation from its external and internal restrictions, and that is why Malik bin Nabi says: “If you want to reform the affairs of the state, reform yourself first”. Malik bin Nabi also made a very considerable contribution in analyzing the idea of civilization and exploring for the problems of civilization on the one hand, and in emphasizing on the relationship of Muslims to the conditions of the Renaissance on the other hand. He is considered as one of prominent scholars who endeavored to discover Islamic civilization and its spiritual and material mechanisms.
