Abstract

Polygamy is one of those principles of Islamic Shari’ah, which determine its philosophy of being an eternal and absolute religion. It is not new one; it has its traces in Islām for many centuries. Qur’ān and Hadīth are the origin of this principle and it is clear from both references that it is permissible with few Shari’ah restrictions. This practice has developed consensus upon it by practical examples of Companions of Muhammad (SAW) and pious people of that age. But unfortunately, now days, our society has mispainted this concept with many illogical arguments resulting as hurdles in practice of this concept. This paper will highlight three of those i.e. Social media, lack of knowledge of Islamic teachings and some laws of state and present their solution in the light of Islamic teachings.
