Abstract

Iqbaliat is an important subject and field within Urdu literature. No knowledgeable person can deny the special place that Allama Iqbal holds in the history of Urdu intellectual poetry. Allama Iqbal has the distinction of being the greatest poet of the twentieth century, and his poetic genius has been recognized internationally. His poetry carries both an invitation to thought and a call to action. It would be an understatement to say that Allama Iqbal and his passionate devotion to poetry influenced not only his contemporaries but also later poets—both consciously and unconsciously—in their thoughts and style of writing. These poets include Akbar Allahabadi, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Muhammad Ali Jauhar, Asad Multani, Hafeez Jalandhari, Chaksbat Lucknowi, Raja Abdullah Niaz, Mahir Al-Qadri, Jafar Baloch, Dr. Syed Qasim Jalal, and others.Asad Multani adopted Iqbal’s ideas as a means to inspire the Muslims of the subcontinent toward action and struggle, preparing the nation for progress and development. As a result, the despair of a declining and backward nation began to turn into hope, and Allama Iqbal’s dream found practical fulfillment under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, culminating in the creation of Pakistan.Through his poetry, Muslims became aware of the tyranny of British rule and the shortcomings of Western civilization. Undoubtedly, Asad Multani made the promotion and dissemination of Allama Iqbal’s thought and message the central goal of his poetry, fulfilling the role of Iqbal’s true disciple to the best of his ability.
