Abstract

Anastrophe is an important concept of semantics which is divided into two parts:  Anastrophe in Mentioning and Anastrophe in the Syntactical Level. The great scholar Abd Al-Qahir Al-Jurjani has discussed aforementioned first part in his famous book “Auguries of Miracles” (Delail ul ijaaz) but he did not throw light on the second part. It seems apparent that he had just focused on the ambiguous topics or he did not go into the issues of coherence and cohesion. The first kind, however, he has discussed widely and interestingly. On the other hand, Al-Zamakhshari has approached both kinds of anastrophe in his exegesis of Quran "The Revealer" (Al-Kashshaaf). The purpose of this article is to discuss Anastrophe in the Syntactical Level and Anastrophe of Subject and its justifications and circumstances in detail with examples from Quran and Arabic poetry. Light has also been shed on the worth of Anastrophe and on the controversy of  he  the verses of the Quran iscussed widely and interestingly. Al-Jurjani and Al-Sakkaki about this phenomenon. The last part of this article discusses Common’s Negation and Negation of Common (pure Arabic terminology) which means whenever the Arabic word (كل) is placed before Negative words it will be considered Common’s Negation and if it is placed after Negative Words, it will be considered Negation of Common. This is a general rule of Abd Al-Qahir and preferable in the view of Al- Taftazani. As maintained by Al-Zamakhshari, examples from the Quran show that any deviation from the established rules of Syntax has a meaningful significance.
