Abstract

The paper aims to study “The Covered Body of the Protagonist in Al – Hamadani Maqamat” through semiotic reading. The researcheres intended to choose the current topic because of the shortage in the studies that had been conducted about the body language in the texts of Badi’ al-Zaman al- Hamadani. Added to that, the importance of body language that was variously mentioned in the texts and because most of the Maqamat are based on it. On the other hand, the Maqamat had been tackled by lots of researchers in the past. And due to its importance is still studied from different angles.

Al – Hamadani Maqamat presents and reflects bad views and insights of its time period. It reveals the elements of its society. This is shown by the behavior of the protagonist which reflected the conflict in his personality and showed his various identities. The researcher tries to reveal the effect of the body language which is covered in the Magamat.
