Abstract

Countless narratives of previous nations have been mentioned in the Quran and Hadith. These stories are not merely historical accounts; rather, their purposes are explained at many places to highlight their underlying wisdom. The tradition of narrating these factual accounts has been appreciated, as they contain profound mysteries and lessons for the Muslim Ummah. Beyond serving as a means of admonition, Quranic commentators and Hadith scholars have derived jurisprudential rulings from them. Scholars have formulated specific principles to distinguish whether a legal ruling of a previous nation is abrogated or remains valid in our Shari'ah. This research focuses specifically on a specialized study of Hadiths related to 'Acts of Worship' (Ibadat), applying these principles to clarify the methodology of deriving jurisprudential rulings from the narratives of previous nations.
