Abstract

Imam Al-Busiri’s Al-Burda shines as an eternal beacon in the firmament of Prophetic praise poetry, not as a fleeting garment of words, but as a spiritual ladder guiding souls toward the radiant lights of the Prophet’s sublime character.

This study unveils the secret of a poem woven from the majesty of the Qur’an, the fragrance of Hadith, the eloquence of Arabic rhetoric, and the translucence of Sufi symbolism. In Al-Burda, poetry is transfigured into spiritual education, verse becomes invocation, and imagery dissolves into mystical ascent.

Al-Burda is more than a poem: it is a spiritual school, a scripture of the heart, a luminous window through which the seeker beholds the horizons of light, where values are nurtured, souls refined, and the Ummah uplifted in love and emulation of the Beloved of God ﷺ.

Findings demonstrate that Al-Busiri transformed Al-Burda into a spiritual ladder, where poetic images become symbols of repentance, tears turn into light, and the Prophet ﷺ emerges as a path of purification and salvation. The enduring value of Al-Burda lies in its role as a Sufi-educational school that shaped Islamic spirituality and enriched global literary and spiritual heritage.
