Abstract

This article examines the concept of human rights in Islamic jurisprudence, its foundational sources, major categories of rights, and its relevance in addressing contemporary human rights issues. The study demonstrates that Islamic teachings provide a comprehensive framework for safeguarding human dignity and promoting social justice, thereby offering valuable guidance for modern human rights discourse. Human rights constitute one of the most significant concepts of contemporary societies. Islam introduced a comprehensive and balanced system of human rights more than fourteen centuries ago, founded upon the principles of human dignity, justice, equality, and freedom. In Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), human rights are not merely legal entitlements but are deeply rooted in moral and spiritual values derived from the Quran and Sunnah. Islamic law emphasizes the protection of fundamental human interests, including life, religion, intellect, property, and honor. These rights are considered universal and applicable to all human beings regardless of race, color, nationality, or social status.
