The four language skills and their adherence to the methods of teaching Arabic language to non-natives [Descriptive Study]

Abstract

The importance of the four language skills in the context of teaching any second language is very clear. To teach these skills, the teacher adopts various approaches, methods, procedures and techniques. This article is about the four language skills and their adherence to the methods of teaching Arabic language to non-natives. It is comprises of a preface and three chapters. The preface is about the introduction of skill, the first chapter discuss the four language skills which are: listening, reading, speaking, and writing, indicating the importance of each skill and its objectives and types. The second chapter is about the methods of teaching Arabic language to non-natives and focus on the five methods which are: The Grammar Translation Method, The Direct Method, The Audio-lingual Method, The Reading Method and The Communicative Method. Whereas the third chapter highlights the interdependence of each language skill with different methods and signifies how to acquire a skill with a particular method.
