Abstract

Abbas Mahmood Al Aqqad is a symbol of inspiration and motivation in the history of Egypt, which is considered as a beacon of knowledge, culture and civilization. He was a prolific writer, literary critic, philosopher, forthright journalist and eminent poet, having Encyclopedical personality. He played an influential pivotal role in national struggle via his poetical work and numerous books. He is one of the pioneers of “MADRASA AL DIYWAN” which was famous for the unique school of poetical thought, and aimed to reform the poetry by representation of Arab youth, and expressing the emotions of innersole, calling for freedom from colonialism and taking up the responsibility. The MADRASA AL DIYWAN has great influence on modern Arab literary life. This article sheds light on the life of prestige poet Abbas Mahmood Al Aqqad and on his remarkable poetic features. This article includes a preface and two chapters; the preface is the brief introduction of poet's life; the first chapter is about his poetic compilations and the second chapter is about the artistic features of his poetry.
